SOLEDAD, Monterey County — November 5, 2026. The county’s sixth semi-final general-election report shows Eugene Ivey leading the Soledad City Council District 2 contest with 433 votes (71.22%) against Don J. Bolin’s 175 (28.78%). The difference is 258 votes among the ballots counted as of the 2:23 a.m. November 4 reporting cutoff. No outcome is officially certified yet.
District election, not a citywide vote
The vote total of 608 valid candidate selections belongs to City Council District 2. It cannot be described as Soledad’s overall turnout or added to different district contests as if they were part of the same candidate race. District-based elections give residents of each geographic area a separate representative in municipal government.
Why the result matters to local services
Soledad’s council members participate in budgeting, roads, public services, land-use planning and community facilities. Voters may care about how those choices affect their neighborhood, but election returns alone do not demonstrate what motivated any individual voter. Candidate platforms and documented council decisions require separate reporting rather than inference from a percentage.
A separate recreation district proposal
The Soledad-Mission Recreation District Measure U is a different ballot issue. In the same county report, it recorded 1,279 Yes (57.79%) and 934 No (42.21%). The measure concerns a special tax for recreation services and requires two-thirds approval, not merely a simple majority. The reported 57.79% Yes is below that threshold in the counted votes. Read the California58 Measure U article, which is an earlier source snapshot, for background.
When to check the next results
The county’s sixth report is reproduced by the King City Rustler. Additional lawful ballots can be included during the canvass, and Monterey County had scheduled the next county update by 5 p.m. November 5. Check the official election office to verify any newer figures; this article does not treat a scheduled report as already published.
