SOLEDAD, Monterey County — October 27, 2026. The Soledad Unified School District marked a new facilities project with an October 9 groundbreaking for a Gabilan Elementary School administration building. The district says the work is funded by Measure E school bond money, with completion projected in fall 2027.
What the new building will provide
Plans include updated accessibility features, staff meeting areas, restrooms, improved energy efficiency and a more welcoming entrance for students and families. The school district intends to complete the new office first, move staff into it, then demolish the old office and expand staff parking. This sequencing matters so families do not mistake the start of construction for a completed relocation.
Who is building it?
According to the district, Pear Tree + Belli Architects is the architect, J.L. Construction is general contractor, and Van Pelt Construction Services is construction manager. Construction timelines and full contract expenditures should be confirmed in the district’s public facilities reporting.
A bond-funded school project is not a grant to every homeowner or proof of increased enrollment. The benefits concern public school services and long-term facility conditions.
